About Pilates
In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 you’ll see the difference, in 30 you’ll have a whole new body
– Joseph Pilates
Pilates is all about overall wellbeing through developing the whole body in a well-balanced manner to improve your strength, flexibility, posture, breathing, and body control.
Pilates is for everybody, all ages and abilities. Exercises are generally carried out on a mat and sometimes includes the use of resistance bands and other small equipment to enhance your workout even further by working different muscles.
There are many benefits to doing Pilates on a regular basis. It improves flexibility, strengthens core muscles, improves balance and co-ordination, reduces stress, improves posture, reduces aches and pains and the risk of injury and also develops body awareness.
Pilates will always challenge you! The focus is very much on technique and establishing good form of the basic exercises, working on correcting posture, alignment and strengthening your core muscles. The control with which exercises are performed is of far greater importance than the number of repetitions. Quality is infinitely better than quantity!
In our group matwork classes, we focus on the traditional form of Pilates developed by Joseph Pilates, following 6 Essential Principles of Pilates.
